Education Grants & Volunteer Awards
Soroptimist International of Corvallis provides recognition and funding for women and girls living in Benton County through three programs. Applications are due by November 1 each year.
- The Live Your Dream Award is for women attending or planning to attend Linn-Benton Community College or Oregon State University who demonstrate financial need and are the primary provider for their family. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements. Award recipients will receive up to $2500 each and will be invited to speak at our annual Spring Tea & Auction in May. One awardee will be advanced to the regional competition to compete for a $3000 or $5000 award. Regional-level winners are advanced to the international level to compete for a $10,000 award. - The Violet Richardson Award recognizes a young woman of high school age who has made a difference in the community through her volunteer efforts in such areas as fighting drugs or crime and violence; cleaning up the environment; and working to end discrimination and poverty. Recipients receive a cash award in the amount of $500 ($250 for the charity of her choice and $250 for the applicant). The awardee and a guest will be invited to our annual Spring Tea in May. - The Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women honors women who have worked to improve the lives of women and girls through their professional and/or volunteer work. This award is given to a woman for their commitment to elevating the status of women in sports, education, politics, business, and other fields of endeavor. Corvallis Club members nominate women from Benton County and the winner is selected by the Grants Committee. The awardee receives $1000 for the charity of their choice and is invited to speak at the annual Spring Tea & Auction held in May.
